Star Trek is science fiction, which means that none of it is actually true.
I guess, that even its creator Gene Roddenberry would be surprised to know that now a days scientists can already ' beam' molecules...
Star Trek is known for its technobabble, a vision that does not seems so far away anymore than it did thirty years ago, when Star Trek first aired.
How often have you asked yourself while watching  Star Trek Voyager- What the hell are they talking about? How can this work? Or how have often have you sat in front of your monitor, writing a brilliant piece of fanfiction and had no idea how to explain a transporter malfunction?
