SICKBAY          59  Janeway APPEARS on the surgical bed with the Doctor and Chakotay beside her.  JANEWAY  They implanted a nano...neural-transceiver...  CHAKOTAY  Is it cloaked?  JANEWAY  Yes...  CHAKOTAY  Doctor, erect a level one containment field  around the Captain.  The doctor works at a control console. Chakotay taps his COM badge.  CHAKOTAY  (continuing)  Chakotay to Tuvok...  TUVOK'S COM VOICE  Tuvok, here...  CHAKOTAY  I need a two second tachyon burst directed  inside the containment field in sickbay, on  my mark... 3, 2, 1, mark...  We hear a BUZZ of energy and Janeway jumps.  The Doctor scans her again.  DOCTOR  (SCANNING WITH TRICORDER)  The cloak has been disabled.  I am reading one  Borg neural-transceiver in the cerebral cortex.  CHAKOTAY  Can you remove it?  DOCTOR  Yes...  CHAKOTAY  Good.  I'm heading back to the bridge.  The  Resistance will be contacting us any minute.  JANEWAY  Chakotay...  Chakotay stops and looks at her. When he sees her distress he is moved with sympathy.  JANEWAY  (continuing)  I tried to fight her... I tried.... so...  CHAKOTAY  (he takes her hand.)  I know, Kathryn, and you won.  You staged  your own resistance (beat) and you won.  Doctor approached Chakotay and puts a hand on his shoulder.  DOCTOR  Commander, Seven and I need to get to work on  the Captain.  Chakotay nods and exits...  CUT TO:  60 INT. BRIDGE- TURBO LIFT          60  Chakotay enters and we follow him down to the command chair.  Kim, Paris, Tuvok and N.D.'s are at their  stations.  CHAKOTAY  Report...  TUVOK  We have reached the rendezvous coordinates.  CHAKOTAY  Any sign of them?  TUVOK  Not yet, Commander.  CHAKOTAY  Helm, put us into orbit around the closest moon.  PARIS  Aye, Sir...  Paris works... A beat then we hear BEEPS from one of the back consoles.  KIM  Sir, we're being hailed. (beat)  It's Axum.  CHAKOTAY  Put it on screen, Mr. Kim.    61 BRIDGE- INCLUDE VIEWSCREEN (OPTICAL)          61  Axum is standing on a cube.  His look is not as menacing as a  controlled drone, but he doesn't look civilized either.  AXUM  We have just become aware of the Queen's  attempts to locate us through Captain Janeway.  She has set a pursuit course for Voyager.    CHAKOTAY  What is their current position?  AXUM  Approximately thirty light years away, in spatial  grid, 647.  Your only hope of evading her  is our transwarp technology.  We will assist  you in converting your warp engines.  CHAKOTAY  But what about the Resistance?  We're supposed  to be helping you.  AXUM  If we do not give you transwarp capability, you  will not live long enough to assist us.  KIM  Good point.  Chakotay thinks for a moment.  He has been in favor of everything thus far, but he does not like the idea of  more Borg Technology being brought aboard Voyager.  We see him struggling.  AXUM  I can understand your reluctance; we are  after all still Borg...  TUVOK  (to Chakotay)  Commander, may I remind you that we have  risked our lives and this ship to bring the  Resistance into being.  If we were to withdraw  our assistance at this juncture, the results might  have devastating and far-reaching consequences.  We must help them to defeat the Borg.  The two men eye each other.  Chakotay finally realizes he must take this final step if they are to really  succeed.  CHAKOTAY  (turning back to Axum.)  Have a team of your people plus the equipment  you will need transported to Voyager.  AXUM  Thank you Commander, we will do everything  in our power to prove worthy of your trust.  View screen goes back to Voyager P.O.V. in ORBIT around a small MOON.  CHAKOTAY  (to Tuvok)  Commander you're with me.  (to Kim)  Ens. Kim, you have the bridge...  Tuvok and Chakotay head toward the turbo-lift doors and ENTER.  CHAKOTAY  We're going to take this one step at a time...  DOORS CLOSE.  FADE OUT:  END ACT THREE      ACT FOUR  FADE IN:  63 EXT. SPACE- VOYAGER IN ORBIT WITH BORG CUBE. (OPTICAL)        63  Voyager is orbiting the moon as before, but now we see the sphere above and slightly behind it.  CHAKOTAY: (V.O.)  First officer's log, supplemental.  The Borg  Resistance has begun work on equipping  Voyager with transwarp capability.  Captain Janeway has insisted that they be  given access to whatever systems they require.  But I have given orders that they are to be  under constant supervision.  If all goes well,  we should have transwarp drive up and running  by 0900 hours tomorrow.  64 INT. ENGINEERING          64  The place is alive with activity.  A few drones, AXUM, LAURA, etc. are working side by side with TORRES,  SEVEN and KIM.  Torres and Seven are working together at one workstation and Axum and Kim are at  another.  SEVEN OF NINE  I have finished re-modulating the EPS conduits  to accept the Borg power relays.  TORRES  Good.  (beat)  How does the dilithium matrix  look with the new specs?  SEVEN OF NINE  Axum has been working on the dilithium matrix  with Ens. Kim.  I have not monitored their progress.  (she knows she should have and feels  uncomfortable that her human feelings  have gotten in the way of efficiency.)  TORRES  Well, go check with them and bring me a report.  (she doesn't look up)  There is a tense moment.  Seven is still not comfortable with Axum and would prefer not to approach him  about anything.  Torres looks up when Seven doesn't respond immediately.  She sees the look on her face  and understands what's happening.  TORRES  (continuing.)  Seven...I'm sorry...I should have realized...  I'll check the status myself.  Torres tries to go, but Seven holds her arm and stops her.  SEVEN OF NINE  Do not apologize, Lieutenant.  I will go...  I must eventually come to terms with Axum's  feelings for me.... as well as mine for him...  Seven starts to walk away.    TORRES  Seven?  SEVEN OF NINE  Yes, Lieutenant?  TORRES  If it's any consolation, I know exactly how  you feel.  Seven says nothing- but we see gratitude in her face.  She nods and walks to where Axum and Kim are  standing.  KIM  I think if we adjust the alignment here-  (he points)  and here...that should take care of our  confinement problem.  AXUM  Agreed...  (he works)  Try it now...  65 DILITHIUM CRYSTAL SCHEMATIC (OPTICAL)  65  We see a ROTATING 3D IMAGE of the dilithium crystal.  As Kim works, the crystal seems to CHANGE  SHAPE.  KIM  I think that's got it.  66 RESUME SCENE          66  Seven of Nine is now standing with them.  Axum stiffens visibly.  AXUM  Annika---  (for a moment his expression is  unguarded, but he quickly shakes  it off.)  I mean Seven.  (he looks down.)  I'm sorry, I can't seem to get used to your  new name.  SEVEN OF NINE  (she eyes him.)  Apology accepted.  (to Kim.)  Ens. Kim, Lt. Torres would like a report  on your progress.  KIM  We've entered all of the new specifications...  it looks good so far...but the real test is actually  trying a jump to transwarp.  SEVEN OF NINE:  (to Axum.)  The last time we tried to open a transwarp  conduit, the antimatter chamber was flooded  with tachyon particles.  Lt. Torres had to  eject the warp core in order to avoid destroying  the ship.  KIM  Not an experience I'd like to repeat.  AXUM  Our modifications should prevent the creation  of tachyon particles.  SEVEN  Then, you are ready to conduct a test?  AXUM  Yes...  SEVEN  I will inform Lt. Torres.  Seven off.    CUT TO:          67 INT. BRIDGE          67  Tuvok, Chakotay, Janeway, Paris and all N.D.'s are all at their  stations.  An alarm sounds on Tuvok's console.  TUVOK  Captain, a Borg Sphere has just dropped out  of Transwarp, bearing 257 mark 984.  JANEWAY  Red alert.  Let's hope they've got that transwarp  drive up and running.  CHAKOTAY  Distance?  TUVOK  They'll be here in less than ten minutes.  CHAKOTAY  (taps his com badge)  Bridge to engineering...  68 ENGINEERING -WARP CORE WORK STATION (OPTICAL)  68  Torres, Seven, Kim and Axum are standing by.  TORRES  Torres, here...  JANEWAY'S COM VOICE  B'Elanna, have you completed installation of  the transwarp drive?  TORRES  Yes, Captain...but we need to run a controlled  test or we could have the same reaction that we  did last time.  69 BRIDGE          69  As before.      JANEWAY  Well, unfortunately we don't have the time to  run that test right now.  A Borg Sphere has  just dropped out of transwarp.  The Queen has  decided to pay us a visit.  KIM'S COM VOICE  We'll make it work, Captain.  JANEWAY  Then prepare to engage transwarp drive.  TORRES' COM VOICE  Transwarp drive is coming on line now...  70 ENGINEERING -ON AXUM          70  Everyone else, as before...  AXUM  Captain Janeway, I'd like to transport  my people back to our cube.  JANEWAY'S COM VOICE  Understood...  AXUM  I will stay with Voyager, just in case there  are problems with the new drive systems.  CHAKOTAY'S COM VOICE  Do it quickly-we've got less than five minutes  before that sphere is in range.  Axum nods to the other drones who are not standing nearby.  They disappear in a GREEN BORG  TRANSPORTER BEAM.    CUT TO:    71 EXT. SPACE- BORG SPHERE (OPTICAL)          71  ROARS past camera at warp.  72 INT.  BORG SPHERE- QUEEN'S CHAMBER (OPTICAL)  72  Queen is looking up at a VIEW SCREEN.  We see Voyager and the  Resistance Cube, in space.  BORG QUEEN  Well, well, Captain...we meet again.  (to drones)  As soon as they are in range, prepare to tractor  their ship and bring it into the holding area.  We'll deal with our renegades soon enough.  73 EXT.  SPACE- VOYAGER- BORG RESISTANCE (OPTICAL)          73  The two ships have left orbit and are now traveling side by side, they ROAR past at warp.  Then the Sphere  ROARS by in pursuit.    74 INT. ENGINEERING          74  Everyone as before, but now the only Borg is Axum...  SEVEN OF NINE  (working)  Transwarp conduit is forming...  TORRES  Harry, keep an eye on the antimatter  containment field.  I want transwarp shut  down at the first sign of tachyon particles.  KIM  Yes, ma'am...  SEVEN OF NINE  Engaging transwarp drive...  75 EXT. SPACE - TRANSWARP CONDUIT (OPTICAL)          75    76 ENGINEERNG          76  Alarms begin to sound.  Everyone scrambles to find the problem.    AXUM  I am detecting tachyon particles...  attempting to compensate...  He works...  TORRES  We're losing antimatter containment...  Shut it down!  AXUM  No! Wait!  I'm re-aligning the dilithium matrix...  Seven joins Axum at his station.  He looks up briefly surprised that she would come and help him.  She  works.  SEVEN OF NINE  Antimatter containment is stabilizing...  AXUM  Tachyon particles have dissipated.  Seven offers a small smile as a kind of olive branch.  It's not much, but it's a start.  TORRES  (hits her com badge, excited.)  Bridge, transwarp conduit is open and stable!  A violent jolt ROCKS the ship.  Everyone stumbles.  77 EXT.  SPACE BORG SPHERE  (OPTICAL)          77  The sphere is FIRING GREEN ENERGY BLASTS.  We see them HIT Voyager. - SHIELDS HOLD.    78 INT. BRIDGE- ON PARIS          78  He is working.  PARIS  Engaging transwarp drive in three...  two...one...    79 EXT. SPACE- VOYAGER AND CUBE  (OPTICAL)  79  We see them enter the CONDUIT and DISAPEAR.  The Sphere follows.    80 RESUME BRIDGE-INCLUDE COMMAND STATIONS  80  As before.  PARIS  The sphere followed us into the conduit,  Captain.  JANEWAY  Fire Torpedoes...  Full spread...  81 EXT. TRANSWARP CONDUIT- VOYAGER (OPTICAL)          81  We see an aft view of the ship and the ORAGNE GLOW of TORPEDOES  FIRING.    82 EXT.  TRANSWARP CONDUIT- SPHERE          82  The TORPEDOES HIT the Sphere.  There is no obvious effect.  The sphere returns fire with several GREEN  ENERGY BLASTS.    83 BRIDGE          83  As before.  TUVOK  Shields down to seventy percent...  JANEWAY  (taps com badge)  B'Elanna, can we drop out of transwarp  and close the conduit before the sphere can  get out?  84 ENGINEERING- ON TORRES AND SEVEN          84  Axum and Kim are working in the b.g.  TORRES  I believe so, Captain.  SEVEN OF NINE  If we can time the torpedoes to detonate  the second they are emerging it will collapse  the conduit and destroy the sphere.  85 BRIDGE -ON JANEWAY          85  JANEWAY  (to Tuvok)  Do it.  TUVOK  Aye, Captain...  Janeway walks to stand behind Paris.  JANEWAY  Mr. Paris, prepare to drop us out of  transwarp on my mark.  PARIS  Yes Ma'am.  He works as camera pushes in on Janeway she is serious and determined.  JANEWAY  Mr. Paris...Tuvok...NOW!  86 EXT.  SPACE VOYAGER- RESISTANCE          86  Voyager and Resistance Cube come out of the CONDUIT and FIRE TWO TORPEDOES.  The CONDUIT and  the Sphere EXPLODE in a massive FIRE BALL. Pieces of BORG SPHERE fly everywhere.    FADE OUT:  END ACT FOUR      ACT FIVE  FADE IN:  87 INT. VOYAGER COORIDOOR          87  Paris TAPS controls beside a door as he talks.  PARIS  We'll have dinner in your quarters  next time-When Harry offered me his  holodeck time...I couldn't pass it up.  TORRES  (she sounds almost annoyed)  Ok, but just this once... Next time we are  staying in...  The DOOR OPENS...  REVEAL we are in:  88 INT.  HOLODECK ONE- CANDLELIT ROOM          88  We see a large slightly Klingon looking room filled with candles of every size and shape.  In the center of the  room is a table for two, set for dinner. When Torres gets a good look at the room she is  speechless.  TORRES  Tom...this is...incredible...you must  have spent hours...  Paris takes her arm and guides her toward the table.  PARIS  This way Lieutenant, your table is waiting.  Paris seats her and then is seated himself.  He pauses to regard her before he speaks.  TORRES  This is so beautiful-I don't know what  to say...  PARIS  I'm glad you like it....  An awkward beat.  Paris is gathering the courage to say something important.  PARIS  (continuing)  You know.... I wasn't exactly in favor of  your mission to the collective....  Torres tries to interrupt, but he won't let her.  PARIS  (continuing)  ...but I wanted you to know how much  I admire the courage it took to do it.  Torres isn't sure where this is going.  PARIS  And I have to say (beat) I'm honored to  call you friend.  TORRES  (moved)  That's the nicest thing I've heard in a long  time.  PARIS  When I told you before that you are as important  to me as any member of my family, I meant it.  TORRES  ...Tom...(beat) I can definitely say the same.  (beat)  In fact, you and this crew are the closest  thing I have to a real family.  PARIS  I'm glad you feel that way. (beat)  Paris takes her hand.  PARIS  (continuing)  You know that neither of us have ideal  relationships with our real families-  Torres makes a face...  PARIS  but (beat) if we put our minds to it-I think we  can make our own-new family.  Torres' eyes widen.  She's guessed where he's going with this  conversation.  TORRES  Tom...?  PARIS  Marry me, B'Elanna, I want us to be more  than friends (beat) I want us to be family.  Torres claps her hands over her mouth and laughs.  Paris looks very uncomfortable; this is not the response  he expected.  TORRES  I'm sorry...it's just that...I can't believe it!  I wanted you to come to my quarters for  dinner tonight so that I (beat) could ask you the same  thing!  That's why I was so disappointed when  you wanted to do something else!  Smiling but still serious, Paris pulls Torres to her feet.  PARIS  Then, I'll take that as a "yes"...  TORRES  Yes!  Embrace and kiss.  TORRES  Being in the collective--being a part of  all those people in Unimatrix Zero made me  realize how important it is to be a part of a  family.  To feel like I was connected-that I  belonged.  When I came back, I realized that I  have been connected for a long time now-to  everyone on this ship...but mostly (beat) to you...  Now it's Paris' turn to be speechless, but he finally manages to find his voice.    PARIS  I love you, B'Elanna  TORRES  I love you.    Their eyes hold for a moment, then Paris picks up a glass of Champagne from the table and Torres does the  same.  They are still arm in arm.    TORRES  Here's to family...  PARIS  ...to family...    They clink their glasses together and kiss again.    FREEZE FRAME- ROLL CREDITS
