Title:  Inner Resistance Contact: Suzanne Terri Series: Voyager Rating: PG Code: All Crew Part: 1/11 Date: June 9, 2000 Original Posting; June 9, 2000 Summary: The three assimilated crewmembers have just been rescued from the collective, but the Queen has staged a little resistance of her own. As the crew makes plans to meet the Resistance, Tom and B’Elanna take their relationship to the next level. Thanks: Once again, thank you to Annie M and Danger Mom for being wonderful Beta readers and kicking me in the butt, when I veered from true character interpretation.  You girls are tough!  But I’m forever grateful.   Disclaimer: Paramount owns them; I just have fun with them!   Before you read this, you should be aware that this is written in the form of a Teleplay.  The reason being, I had every intention of submitting it to the producers of Voyager.  Unfortunately for me I found out too late that you are not allowed to submit a story that is a direct sequel to an already aired episode.  I couldn’t just let all this hard work go down the drain, so I am hoping that my friends on the ASC will enjoy it instead! Be forewarned, THIS STORY CONTIANS SPOILERS!!!!!!! If you have not seen “Unimatrix Zero” and don’t want to know part of what happens, then don’t read this.  Also, understand that in converting this to an HTML document, the formatting required for proper scripting has been lost.     STAR TREK: VOYAGER   "Inner Resistance" By Suzanne Terri     TEASER FADE IN: 1    INT. SICKBAY           1 JANEWAY, TUVOK, and TORRES are all in sickbay.  DOCTOR, PARIS, WILDMAN and SEVEN OF NINE are tending to them as they have just been rescued from the Collective.  All are still evidencing Borg implants.  The atmosphere is urgent -like an emergency room.  Torres is on Biobed-one, Tuvok is on bed two and Janeway is on the surgical bed. CHAKOTAY'S COM VOICE Is that dampening field up and running, Doctor? We follow the Doctor as he walks to Wildman, standing by the medical console. DOCTOR Yes Commander, they are completely cut off from the collective. Doctor hands a PADD to Wildman, she nods and walks off.  Seven of Nine comes into view. CHAKOTAY'S COM VOICE Good work, Doctor, but we're not out of the woods yet. Be prepared, the ride could get a little bumpy. DOCTOR Understood, sickbay out.  (beat) Lt. Paris, five cc's of [med. Tech.] Lt. Torres is going into shock. Paris walks into view, stands by Doctor.  Doctor hands Paris a HYPO- SPRAY.  Paris off.  Seven and the Doctor are left standing there.  They walk toward Janeway. DOCTOR Commander Tuvok is stabilized for now; our main concern is Captain Janeway.  She suffered severe head trauma, if we don't get her system running on her human bio-functions soon she'll die. SEVEN OF NINE We'll have to remove her cybernetic implants first. Removal is (beat) complicated.  I will assist you. DOCTOR I "have" had previous experience removing Borg implants, if you will recall.  (dry) Looks pointedly at Seven.  He walks around to Janeway's head and injects her with a HYPO-SPRAY. SEVEN OF NINE You have never removed a bioprocessing unit [or other tech.]  If one connection is severed incorrectly the Captain will die. DOCTOR (beat) Very well, (beat) prepare for surgery. SEVEN OF NINE Understood. Seven walks away.  Off Doctor. 2 NEW ANGLE- TORRES                                   2 Laying on Bio-bed one.  Paris injects her with the HYPO-SPRAY, then leans in to touch her face.  We can tell he is really glad to see her. TORRES puts her hand on top of his. TORRES I'm sorry about the Flyer. PARIS I knew I should have sabotaged the navigational controls.     TORRES The way my head feels right now, I'd almost agree with you. A beat...they share a meaningful look... PARIS If I haven't told you yet...welcome back... TORRES You might have, but I don't mind hearing it again.... Doctor interrupts.  He is ready to sedate her to begin removal of the Borg implants. Suddenly, the LIGHTS FLICKER and the ship is SHAKEN after being fired on by the Borg.  The Doctor looks annoyed. DOCTOR Lt. Torres, we need to begin removing the Borg implants...I'll need to give you a sedative. TORRES Just promise me that when I wake up I'll have hair. DOCTOR Your wish is my command.   CUT TO:   3 INT. VOYAGER BRIDGE                       3 Red Alert.  CHAKOTAY, in the big chair, KIM, at ops., and  N.D.'s  are at their stations on the bridge.  Fast action, tense. CHAKOTAY Distance from Borg cube...? KIM Ninety million kilometers and increasing... Bridge is ROCKED by another blast.     KIM Shields down to forty-seven percent, Commander... CHAKOTAY Reroute auxiliary power to aft shields. KIM Aye, sir... 4 EXT.  SPACE VOYAGER (OPTICAL)           4 We see visible HULL DAMAGE.  The ship is HIT by another series of GREEN ENERGY BLASTS from the Borg Sphere. It is the Borg P.O.V.   5 INCLUDE BORG SPHERE (OPTICAL)           5 In pursuit of Voyager...   6 INCLUDE BORG RESISTANCE CUBE (OPTICAL)           6 Resistance FIRES on Sphere and moves between Voyager and sphere...abruptly the firing stops.   7 RESUME BRIDGE           7 As before...red alert...Kim and Chakotay look at each other surprised that the firing has stopped.   KIM We're being hailed sir; it's the Resistance. CHAKOTAY Let's hear it, Ensign. AXUM'S COM VOICE Voyager, we have successfully masked your escape from the Collective. Continue your present course and speed.  We will contact you in seven of your days at the following coordinates. We are transmitting them now. Axum flicks off. CHAKOTAY Do you have them, Harry? KIM Yes, Commander.  It's a binary system about 45 light years from our current position.  I'm showing one "M" class planet and two "L" class moons. CHAKOTAY Helm, set course; warp eight.  Engage. LT. BAYTART Aye, sir...   8 EXT. SPACE- VOYAGER  (OPTICAL)           8 We see aft view as GLIDE into up position, BLUE glow.  Star's STREAK by and we hear the ROAR of the engines and ship enters warp.   9 INCLUDE RESISTANCE CUBE (OPTICAL)           9 A TRANSWARP CONDUIT FORMS and the Cube DISAPEARS, the Sphere FOLLOWS it.   10 NEW ANGLE: CHAKOTAY         10 His expression is serious and concerned. CHAKOTAY: Damage report... KIM Casualties on decks ten and eleven...  Forward shields are down.  Engineering reports that seven EPS conduits were ruptured during the attack.  The good news is, primary power has been restored. CHAKOTAY Any word on the away team...? KIM None... CHAKOTAY (taps his com badge.) Bridge to sickbay, report... DOCTOR'S COM VOICE Lt. Torres and Commander Tuvok are in stable condition, but I'm afraid the Captain is still critical. (beat) Seven and I are preparing to remove the Borg implants.  But if we do not succeed in returning her human bio-functions within the next two hours, she'll die.  I will keep you apprised, Commander. Sickbay out.   Camera pushes in on Chakotay; his look is disturbed. TBC
