Do we have any clue as to what
caused this?TORRES
None…Janeway walks several steps away…then more to herself…

Captain…if I may? I have always
wished that I could be a flesh
and blood being. (beat) I don't
think this is such a bad thing.PARIS

without a Doctor?DOCTOR

very nicely Mr. Paris, I'm sure
with a little more effort on your
part you'll make a fine physician.PARIS

Paris is about to say more, but is interrupted by a silent communication from Torres. He looks sharply at her; she is trying not to laugh at him.
PARIS
(continuing)
That's not funny B'Elanna…TORRES

I didn't say a word…He shoots her another look after which she immediately stops laughing.

Janeway holds up her hand…JANEWAY
All right, you two, that's
enough…Janeway walks around the bed to stand by Paris.
JANEWAY
(continuing)
…even if Tom could complete
the necessary medical training,
it would take months. That would
leave us without a Doctor and my
best pilot for too long. I'm sorry,

Captain, until we can figure out
how this happened, we don't have
much of a choice. (beat) I think
our top priority should be finding
out what caused this and fixing it.JANEWAY
Agreed…Takes a step toward her, puts a hand on her shoulder.
JANEWAY
(Continuing)
B'Elanna, I want you and Harry
to run full sensor sweeps of the
area. Look for any anomalies or
alien technology that could have
caused this.TORRES
Understood…49 NEW ANGLE-JANEWAY AND PARIS
Janeway turns to Paris
JANEWAY
Tom, unfortunately, you and
Ens. Wildman, will have to cover
sickbay for a while. I'll have
Chakotay shorten your duty shifts
on the bridge to help accommodate
the additional time.DOCTOR
Captain, perhaps with Mr. Paris'
help I could re-learn some of the
skills I have lost?JANEWAY

(not happy with what he's
hearing)
Wait a minute…what about my telepathic
link with B'Elanna? It's a little

Perhaps some kind of neural inhibitor

Then I guess you're stuck with
each other until we can figure out
how to break the link…Paris and Torres exchange looks of disbelief

I think I'm feeling…tired…
It's hard to say, never having
experienced fatigue, but I have
an overwhelming urge to lie down…
(beat) Captain, perhaps I could be
assigned temporary quarters?JANEWAY
(eyeing him dubiously)
I'll see what I can do, Doctor…Paris and Torres roll their eyes at the Doctor's whining.

50 INT. VOYAGER-TUVOK'S QUARTERS
He is pacing…he seems unsure of what to do next.
TUVOK
The Captain, must be informed
immediately of your presence on the
ship.T'PEL
(calmly)
Of course, Tuvok… but do not delay
overlong… we must purge you of the
blood fever.He stops his pacing at her words and touches her cheek, with an almost feral look on his face.
TUVOK
Yes…we must…
(he gains control)
But protocol must be observed.
I will not allow these (beat) urges

strange happenings aboard ship.
But I have to say I'm secretly
relieved that Tuvok will not have to

Camera pans as Torres, Paris and Doctor file in and sit. SEVEN OF NINE, Janeway, CHAKOTAY and KIM are already seated.
JANEWAY V.O.

In the mean time, we are making
every effort to find the cause
of Tom and B'Elanna's link and
the Doctor's sudden case of humanity.53 NEW ANGLE -INCLUDE VIEW PORT (OPTICAL)
Janeway looks around to make sure everyone is seated.
JANEWAY
Harry…have your initial scans
revealed anything?KIM
No, Captain…nothing…CHAKOTAY
Let's try initiating a [tech] scan
and see if anything shows up.TORRES
We were going to do that first thing
this morning, Commander.CHAKOTAY

Since our previous scans have proven
negative, perhaps we should pursue
the possibility that these three

Communicating telepathically, they are stealing glances at each other trying not to laugh. Torres elbows him and he can't help it, he laughs out loud.

Commander.Kim who was observing the interplay, also tries not to laugh.

takes some getting used to…Janeway pins them both with a quelling stare.

you were linked with B'Elanna?PARIS
(recovering)
Well…ah…we were walking back
to my quarters after Parasailing
on the holodeck…Torres interrupts finishing his thought for him. They're getting good at this…
TORRES
…in fact we had just left you
and that curious little Ambassador

By the time we got to my quarters-
we were…linked…Looks at Torres.
