This is my first series I've ever written. Please be kind. This story is an alternate future for B'Elanna and Tom. I'm sorry if this has already been done, though I doubt anything with my ending has been. What's my ending? Well, you have to read it to find out. This story is copyright 1997 by Tammy Lee. Another Night
Chapter 2
By Tammy Lee

First, she got pregnant. Then came their kiss. The date was third. It seemed that Tom and B'Elanna's relationship was moving backwards. Yet, neither one of them seemed to care. B'Elanna's pregnancy was only known to herself, the doctor, Kes, Paris and Janeway. That was probably for the better. Paris and Torres lived fairly normal lives. But then again, how normal could you be when you were going to be parents before you even went on a real date? They had now been on quite a few real dates.

A month's worth, in fact. Almost every night they ate together, and spent hours alone in one of their quarters. Most of the time just talking, but on a few occasions, it did go further. One night maybe it went a little to far. But not with romance, with words, and an agreement that turned their lives upside-down.

"B'Elanna. I was wondering what you thought about unmarried couples moving in together." Paris asked.

"Why do you want to know?"

"Oh. Just wondering."

Torres nearly snorted. "Yah. I'm sure that's why you're asking."

Paris grinned. "Well. What do you think?"

"I think that it might work. But, of course, that depends on who these two people are."

Paris let a small smile escape his lips. "Well. Let's take a half-human/half- Klingon, and a human."

"It also depends on how long these two people have been seeing each other."

"Only a month or so. But, the woman is pregnant."

Soon enough, the small teasing game turned dead serious again. Paris reached out and caressed her face. "B'Elanna. I was wondering, if you thought this wasn't a ridiculous idea, would you like to move in together."

"Oh. Tom." She took both of Paris' hands in hers, and pulled them closer together. They eagerly kissed each other. "I." ^Oh. God. This is better then I could ever imagine.^ "I will move in with you."

Paris slowly pulled his hands from hers, and moved them upward to cup her face. He was speechless. But, there was no need for words. Actions speak louder. Their actions were practically screaming that they loved each other.

A month later, Paris and Torres were completely situated in their new quarters. They hadn't told anyone about B'Elanna's pregnancy, and were debated the pros and cons. The pros won. At the next senior staff briefing, the truth came out.

"Is there anymore business to discuss?" Captain Janeway paced around the room. She usually did that at staff meetings, but today, she knew what B'Elanna was going to say. Torres hadn't said a word throughout all the meeting. She was planning what to say.

"Actually, Captain, there is something I'd like to say." Torres spoke calmly. Inside, however, she was nervous and jittery to a point she could hardly stand.

"Go ahead, Lieutenant." Janeway responded. She was trying to decide if Torres would actually work up the courage to say what she had intended to.

"I would just like to say that." She paused. All eyes were on her. She was nervous. Almost shaking. Torres glanced over to Paris. He gave her a reassuring smile, and the courage to continue. "I would just like to say that I'm pregnant." She finished quickly and sat back down.

"B'Elanna. You're serious?" Harry asked from across the table. She nodded. "Congratulations."

"Yes, congratulations." Chakotay smiled at B'Elanna. His gaze then shifted to Paris. "Congratulations, to both of you."
