Monday Morning

He lay there, feeling the weight of her head on his chest. He had never been so happy in his life. He wished he didn't have to go, but he did. He wouldn't see them for a whole eight hours. Just a few minutes longer...He was going to be late if he didn't get up. He slid out of the bed, taking care not to wake his wife or the baby asleep in her arms. Their baby. He still couldn't believe it, even after a week. He drank his coffee in silence, watching them. They looked so...perfect. And they were his. His family. He got dressed quietly, then kissed them both on the forehead and crept out. As the door whooshed shut, he took a deep breath, and decided that he was ready to face the day. After all, he had so much to look forward to at the end of it. And so he left, whislting a happy tune, leaving his little family to sleep, peacefully curled up in bed.
